about

The first Troutband album, originally released in '99, was a collaboration of the songwriting of James Prosek and Etay Ziv and the production and arranging of Joe Dochtermann.

All tracks were recorded in Joe's garage recording studio with frequent breaks to crank up the AC! Floyd Murphy Jr. and Joe played in the drums and electric guitars while James sang live in the control room, providing the basic tracks to most of the songs. Many of the final vocals came from those takes, and were spruced up with James's vocal harmonies and guitar overdubs from Joe, James, and guest appearances by blues/rock legend Charlie Karp.

What the album lacks in sonic refinement is more than compensated for in the energy and natural feel of the live tracks. Highlight songs include alt-rockers "Carry My Doll To The Grave" and "Irreverent Son" and the dreamy song-poem "Apples Falling". Thanks to Peter Dennenberg and Rory Young at Acme Recording for helping Joe learn his way around Pro Tools back in the early days!
